Backyard Gardening for Kids

The Louisa Extension Master Gardeners hold a "Backyard Gardening for Kids" event once a month in the summer at the Mineral Farmers' Market on Saturdays. It is a "drop by" activity where parents and children learn and plant together.

The purpose is to instill a love of gardening and educate kids on basic gardening and horticultural concepts. At each event, children have the opportunity to learn about a topic and take home what they plant.

This past year topics included:

  • Seeds

  • Plant propagation

  • Succulents

  • Cool weather planting

We hope you join us this coming year!  Dates and topics will be posted here in the Spring.
