​Hands-on gardening sessions for kids held at the Mineral Farmers Market on the following Saturdays from 8:00am - 12pm.  No cost to attend.

  • July 5 - Chia or Grass Hair on Face pots

2025 Bracketts Farm Demonstration Garden Events 

  • May 5, 2025 9am - 11am - Planning & Planting a Warm-Season Garden & Volunteer Social

    • Location - Bracketts Farm 1117 Bracketts Farm Road, Louisa

    • Kindly RSVP by Friday, May 2, 2025 to lemgkimberly@gmail.com

    • Join us for a casual informative session on selecting the best warm-season
      vegetables, crop spacing, soil health, weed control, companion planting, and more! Volunteers can assist in planting seeds and transplants in the
      Charitable Garden. Please wear comfortable shoes (no sandals or flip-flops) and bring gloves, water, and a chair if you have one.  A volunteer social will follow, with freshly baked items, coffee, tea, and lemonade served.  Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just getting started, you'll leave with valuable tips to set up your garden for success. All are welcome!

  • June 2025 (Date TBD) – Garlic Harvest & Volunteer Social

Get your hands dirty as we harvest the garlic planted in October 2024! We’ll demonstrate proper techniques for harvesting, cleaning, and drying garlic—whether for home use or donation—and share tips for storing it for the long term.

 

  • August/September 2025 (Date TBD) – Planning a Fall & Winter Garden & Volunteer Social

Prepare for cooler weather with a workshop on selecting cold-hardy vegetables, improving soil health, optimal spacing, companion planting, and more. Learn how to extend your growing season and keep your garden thriving into the fall and winter months.

 

  • September 2025 (Date TBD) – Garlic & Onion Planting & Volunteer Social

Join us for a hands-on planting event where we’ll cover the steps for separating and preparing garlic and onions, proper spacing and planting depth, watering techniques, and overwintering and protection strategies to ensure a healthy crop for next year.

Louisa County Fair - Ask a Master Gardener table/tent 

  • Fair dates 7/31 - 8/2

  • Come visit our tent and get answers to your gardening questions

  • Kids activity - decorate a picture frame with our collection of natural items found in the garden - pinecones, seeds, acorns and the like

​


2026 Garden Expo with Seed Share

 

  • January 31, 2026.  Details to come.

2026 Master Gardener Training Class

 

  • Class dates TBD early 2026

  • Classes are usually held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings,9 a.m. until 12 noon

  • Location: Louisa County Office Building located at 1 Woolfolk Avenue, Louisa, VA. Some classes are at other sites.

  • Class Cost: $185. Application deadline is February 15, 2026. In addition, a $12.50 fee is required for a background screening for all volunteers accepted into the Master Gardener program.​
