Betty Queen Center

Monarda, native perennial

The Betty Queen project was started by Louisa Extension Master Gardeners to provide Senior Center members with garden-related educational programs and activities.  The Center provides space for the programs and an outdoor patio with raised planters for garden projects.  The attendees plant outside each spring and watch the planters bloom with showy plantings throughout the summer.

Programs have included composting, worm composting, vegetable gardening, care of indoor plants, water gardens and gardening to attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and beneficial insects.  The events are held the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10:45 am to 11:45 pm, April through September.
